CHESTER –

Police arrested a man in connection with a home invasion Monday in Chester County.

Deputies with Chester County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Dye Road in Edgemoor early Monday in reference to a burglary in progress.  Deputies arrived at the scene and found the victim had been assaulted by a masked man dressed in all black, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

The victim told investigators she opened her garage door and walked out when she was attacked by the man, who was later identified as her nephew, Jared Ray Peeler of Rock Hill, the release states. The suspect forced her to the ground briefly and then let her go.

The victim ran up the street looking for help.

The suspect went into the house and stole several items and then left in her silver 2004 Toyota Camry with a South Carolina tag DHQ 681.

The man left Dye Road headed toward York County.

York County was notified and their K-9 unit responded. Investigators worked the case and was able to identify the suspect as Peeler.

Peeler was arrested by Rock Hill police and taken to the Chester County Detention Center where he was charged with burglary, grand larceny, and assault and battery, the release states.

The Toyota is still missing.
