ROCK HILL –

Nine teens were cited for underage drinking at a party at a Rock Hill home Saturday, police say.

Deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office received a call about suspicious cars being parked in the driveway of a vacant home on Sunset Point Drive in Rock Hill early Saturday morning, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report. The man who owns the home told deputies no one should be inside.

The man heard people inside the home and saw someone looking at him through the window, the report states. He saw beer cans lying on the back porch of the home.

Deputies arrived at the scene and saw some people running out of the back door, the report states. They stopped them and could smell alcohol on breath of at least one of the teens.

Inside the home, deputies saw beer cans in several rooms, the report states. One of the teens was found in a car parked in the home’s garage. His backseat was filled with more beer cans and a malt beverage bottle.

During the investigation, deputies identified the teens, who are all between the ages of 14 and 17, according to the report. They were cited for underage drinking and issued a petition for juvenile court.
