ROCK HILL –
Police suspect a group of juveniles might be responsible for two break-ins at Sunset Park Elementary School this week after finding bike tracks around the school.
At about 4 a.m. Monday, someone broke into Sunset Park and “desecrated” school property by urinating in the halls, said Lt. Brent Allmon with the Rock Hill Police Department.
On Wednesday night, vandals struck again, this time tearing several drawings from the walls of the school and stealing a pack of cookies from a vending machine, according to police documents.
Police responded to an alarm at the school around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers checked the building and found several drawings and chocolate chip cookies on the floor. They also found teachers’ mailboxes had been opened, and the key to the vending machine had been removed from the secretary’s desk.
During both incidents, a window was left unlocked, allowing the vandals to enter, Allmon said.
Authorities think juveniles also might have driven bikes into the school during the first break-in, he said.
