ROCK HILL — Police are investigating after a baby girl born last month ago tested positive for heroin.
On May 10 at 1:05 p.m., the infant was born at Piedmont Medical Center, where doctors found opiates in her system, according to a Rock Hill police report released Monday.
The child’s mother, 20, admitted to using heroin before her daughter’s birth, the report states.
The Department of Social Services was called to investigate. Once DSS completed its report, information was turned over to police, said Lt. Brad Redfearn with the Rock Hill Police Department.
Police then began a criminal investigation, Redfearn said.
No arrests have been made.
