ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill man has been charged with assaulting a police officer outside the Earth Fare grocery store on Cherry Road.
Late Friday, an Earth Fare manager asked police to issue a trespass notice against Perrion Louis Foster, 26, who was sitting at a table outside the store, harassing female customers and a worker, according to a Rock Hill police report.
When an officer approached Foster, he ran away. The officer chased him and ordered Foster to stop.
As the officer grabbed his wrist, Foster punched him several times and tried to grab the officer’s weapon, the report states. The officer defended himself by knocking Foster to the ground.
Foster continued the attack and refused to cooperate, the report states, until another officer arrived and used his stun gun to subdue him.
Foster was arrested and charged with assault and battery and resisting police, according to the report.
The officer had a large scrape on his knee and both arms were cut and scratched.
